Praise and Prayer ~ Praise the Lord for a great time of furlough, during which we traveled nearly 6000 miles to visit friends and supporters. Praise the Lord for the additional support that he has provided, and pray that our remaining support need will be met. ~ Pray for Andris as he begins preparations for summer camp. Pray for his program staff as they prepare for camp. Pray for the campers who will attend. ~ Pray for the counselors and helpers as they prepare to minister this summer. Pray that God would pull together a quality summer staff. ~ Praise the Lord for the opportunity to build a home here in Tóalmás. Please pray that everything would go smoothly. Our Website Please visit our family website at www.andrisangie.com for more information about us, the ministry, and to view more photos. How to support the ministry Through prayer: If you would like to receive our quarterly updates by mail and/or email, please contact us by email or send a letter to us at one of the addresses in the footer below. Through finances: Financial support can be sent to the Mission Board address in the footer below made payable to Word of Life Fellowship and including "Bartos Support" in the memo section. Online donations can be made by visiting www.wol.org/giving. Under "Optional Information" you can specify your donation to Bartos Support. Car Fund Our director has asked us to begin raising finances to replace our car. She has been good to us, but is not going to last much longer, especially after our accident late last year. We could buy a good used car for approximately $15,000. Tax-deductible donations can be made as explained in the above paragraph, specifying your donation to Bartos Car Fund. Send a Hungarian child to camp! Every summer, though the generosity of supporters we are able to furnish camp scholarships for Hungarian young people. It costs $100 to send a Hungarian child to camp for a week. If you would like to send a child to camp, please follow the instructions above, designating your donation to the "WOL Hungary Camp Scholarship Fund." **** In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. Furlough...
We spent January through mid-March traveling in the States on furlough. We had the opportunity to spend time with Angie's family, as well as with friends we have not seen in a while. It was nice spending Christmas surrounded by family at Angie's sisters. Over the course of these 11 weeks we experienced God's provision and grace in innumerable ways. One example of this blessing was the couple who loaned us their vehicle for the entire length of our furlough. I don't think we have ever sat in such a beautiful car in our lives. This definitely made the nearly 6000 miles through 12 States a much easier time. During our stay we visited dear friends, supporters and churches.Besides reporting to supporters, we also needed to raise further support due in part to the weakness of the dollar overseas. By the grace of God we were able to raise a portion of the needed amount. We are praying that in the next few months we will see the remaining need met. We are thankful to God for those individuals and churches who desire to take part in this ministry through prayer and financial support. It is so good to know and experience that we are not alone in the Lord's work... there are brothers and sisters standing by us and helping.Preparing for Summer Camp... But while we were away on furlough, the work did not stop in Hungary. We are glad to have returned to our friends and coworkers. As the Bible School students enter their final academic quarter, the weather is slowly getting nicer, and Andris is beginning to feel the summer approaching. He has a lot of preparation work to do... organizing the program, coming up with new games, preparing skits and dramas, and assembling and training a program staff. But we trust that God will look after us and the camp, just as he has every year. As the summer draws nearer, we have more and more camp registrations. In late April we held our training weekend for the summer camp staff. Young people came to be trained for their role as either counselor or helper (kitchen, dining room staff, etc.). Praise the Lord, we were filled to capacity! The Lord blessed greatly through the teaching of a Hungarian pastor, Kovács Géza bácsi. Please pray for our summer staff as they continue to prepare for their ministry this summer. And yet another praise... This summer, through the generosity of a supporter, we will be able to give new translation Bibles to the campers who do not have one. This is a great help and just another example of God's great hand of provision. Home, Sweet Home...
Almost two years ago we wrote with the exciting news that we had purchased property in Tóalmás with the hope of building a home. It seems that our dream is coming true. Unfortunately, the economic situation in Hungary does not allow for us to build a home through a loan from a Hungarian bank. Naturally American banks would not be willing to give a mortgage for a home in Tóalmás, Hungary either. But what seems impossible in human terms is always possible with God. And in His grace, He has seen fit to lay it upon the hearts of a few generous families to supply a loan to allow us to build. We are overwhelmed by God's provision and by the generosity of His people. Please pray that everything will go smoothly. We plan to begin building in early May and should be able to move in by early Fall. Praise the Lord!! |
