Summer Camp Memories...
Summer Camp 2004 After summer the camp is barren. Everything has quieted down. The campers, whose buzz filled the property with life, are gone. Only the memory of the last farewell campfire burns in me. Now I have just to pray for them, that they will retain all that they experienced here in the camp until next summer. We saw over 1000 young people attend camp this summer. Over 215 of them went forward to meet with counselors regarding salvation decisions, not to mention all that made life-changing decisions at dedication campfires. To God be the glory!

After the farewell campfire, I always tell them how much I will miss them, and that I hope to see them next summer. At the close of one of these campfires a 16 or 17 year old boy came up to me and cried as he hugged me. He told me that he would miss me, too, and he made me promise not to forget him. I started tearing up as well when I saw this kid opening up in front of me. Then it hit me, how much I don't just have an effect on these kids as program director, but how much of an effect they have on me over the course of the summer.

Summer Camp 2004 It's hard to let them go, just hoping that they'll come back next year. Because unfortunately there are some whom I will search for in vain next summer. But for the many who do return, I often see in their faces how much they longed to be back... to see old friends, to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, and mostly to grow in their relationship with Christ. It is at these times after camp, as the memories flash through my mind, I really understand that this is the place where God wants to see me

A New Academic Year...
The Bible School is off to a great start! Pastor Reggie Weems from Johnson City, TN was the keynote speaker for the opening weekend. He was a great encouragement to students and staff alike. This year we have students from Hungary, Romania, United States, England, Ukraine, Switzerland, Germany, and Bosnia. Please pray for the new and returning students, the faculty and staff and for an effective school year.

A Change in Responsibility...
Although Andris never saw the Bible Club ministry as his "calling," for lack of a better word, he agreed to serve for a year and see if God changed his outlook. Our ministry updates over the past year evidence how much we both loved actually working with the children, leading a local club in Tóalmás, but the position on the Clubs staff was not as appealing.
As summer came to a close, Andris met with our director, Al Konya, to discuss his future ministry. Andris shared his thoughts and Al was very understanding. In fact, the Director of the Bible School, Dave James, had already talked with Al about having Andris join his staff. The prospect of working with the Bible School students was exciting.
In September Andris took the position of Director of Admissions and Recruitment for the Bible School, retaining his position as Camp Program Director in the summer months. Please pray for Andris as he becomes accustomed to this role. Currently all of the foreign students are in the midst of applying for Staying Permits to allow them to remain for the year to study. Andris is enjoying getting to know the new students and helping them through this complicated process.
Angie has also undergone some changes lately. As Al Konya took the role of Director, Angie and her new supervisor, Lajos Madarász, co-founded the IT/multimedia department. She continues as webmaster for the ministry as well as being a resource for the staff who struggle with computer needs. As the castle goes through renovations to meet EU standards, office space is at a premium, therefore Angie was given the opportunity to work from home. It has been an adjustment, but Angie finds that she can get more work done, and enjoys the comfort of working in slippers.

Eric & Lynne Murphy...
As many of you are aware, Eric and Lynne Murphy have been involved in pioneering and directing the Word of Life Hungary ministry since its beginning. God has used them in a wonderful way to impact many with the gospel, and we are grateful for all that God has accomplished through them. In recent months, a leadership transition process has been completed in Hungary. As part of this transition, Eric and Lynne were asked to assume broader responsibilities with Word of Life. However, they have not seen the Lord directing them in this way, and have submitted their resignation from Word of Life effective August 31, 2004. Their future plans currently include establishing a new ministry based in Budapest. While Word of Life may have reservations concerning these plans, we will continue to pray for the Murphys, and that God would give great wisdom to them in the days ahead as they face many decisions and challenges.
